When travelling with small ones safety is obviously still important. Remember these vital points: Check child restraint laws in destination state or country. Either hire a) a seat in advance and be very clear about your requirements or b) take your seat with you. If travelling with your seat but not using it on the aircraft, pack it into a plastic bag and a box in order to avoid damage. Check with your airline in advance re allowances / guidelines for car seats onboard or as baggage. Make sure you know how to fit your seat properly using a seat belt...

Authorised Restraint Fitters

There’s a huge difference between getting anonymous advice on safety from social media, having a “professional” with unknown qualifications charge you for fittings and having an authorised fitter who’s every fitting is tracked and can be audited by Transport for NSW give you advice and service. For safe installation, it's recommended that all child car seats are fitted and checked at an Authorised Restraint Fitting Station.  Not all fitting stations are authorised - take the time to check at the Transport for NSW website. Your kids lives depend on it, so don’t cut corners.

A little controversial? It shouldn’t be. We get lots of customers saying they need isofix because their OBGYN said they did. They can be an amazing Doctor but that doesn’t mean they know everything. We don’t know everything either, but we do know car seats and child car safety. Isofix is great and can make a seat fitting easier, but you still need to read the manual and do everything else correctly. And remember checks are free at our Zetland store 7 days.

 Have you looked at your anchor clip lately? Does it have one of these little plastic pieces sitting on it? If it doesn’t, you need it! It is a requirement of the safety standards to have what’s called an attachment clip (here is an AB type) to reduce the chances of your anchor clip coming loose, especially if you fit it upside down. Sooo if you don’t have one, contact your manufacturer or authorised fitting station to get one - they should be under $5.
